Jennifer Fiero

Dance, Voice & Piano Instructor

Miss Jennifer started playing the piano at the age of 6, playing flute at the age of 10, studying voice at the age of 14 and has been doing choreography/dancing for over 40 years.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University in Dance with a minor in music.  She has also received a Masters of Arts in Education from GCU.

Jennifer grew up in Jackson, MI performing with the Clark Lake Players and Jackson Civic Theatre where she played many different roles.  Some of her favorites being:  Liesel /Sound of Music, Anne Sullivan/Miracle Worker and Gertie/Oklahoma.   At the age of 17, she really found a love for vocal music and dance, receiving a full scholarship performing in JCC’s show choir, the Starfleet Ambassadors.  She spent summers performing at Stage Coach Stop and was involved in Footlight Theatre, choreographing and performing in many different shows.  That led to a job with Bi-Tech Productions (based in Hollywood, CA) where she was contracted as a dancer/actress.

Jennifer grew up studying at Miss Connie’s School of Dance in Jackson, MI and has taken master classes with many different companies, some of the being:  Ailey American Dance Theater, Hubbard Street Dance and Jump Rhythm and Jazz Project.  She studied piano and flute through high school/college and has been studying voice with Joann Drayton from Drayton Studios.

After finding a passion for teaching she spent several years teaching at MKSOD in Niles/Dowagiac where she taught classes and choreographed for their company.  In 2008 she was asked to choreograph Swan Lake for The New Buffalo Football team and it soon turned into a full time teaching job at New Buffalo Middle School/High School.  Where she taught dance, show choir and middle school performing arts. She developed a strong dance program where they performed concerts and traveled to venues to take classes and perform.   Her passion is teaching those who think they cannot dance and getting them to understand and embrace their full potential.  She loves teaching all kinds of genres especially Contemporary and Musical Theatre.

Currently, she is choreographing several Musicals a year and freelances as a guest artist.  She has been coaching Colorguard for New Buffalo HS for 10 years where they have taken Best Colorguard five times in a row.  She also competes with the River Bend Chorus from South Bend, IN, where they were the 2018 3rd place regional champions.  She has been married 26 years and has two kids Jake and Taylor.  During the work week she is employed full time at Buchanan Middle School, working in the front office.

She loves being a part of the Fusion team and looks forward to meeting you.
